 Biden drops out

Buying a Vehicle

For amusement I like to watch videos and read articles of tips for consumers buying vehicles. When active in the business, this was something I diligently did to keep myself prepared for the “informed” consumer.

Here a couple of “pro” tips. The greatest tool at the dealer’s disposal is, NO”. You want the vehicle; you want to be in control of the purchasing process, etc. Before you drive away with that new ride, I WILL take control. You aren’t the only possible customer and I will let you walk. On the other side of that coin is, you the customer can say NO and go elsewhere.

The other pro tip is this. All used cars are for sale for a reason. If it was perfect, someone would still be driving it. Before you ever start shopping, line up a mechanic who will examine the vehicle. Emphasis on before! Don’t waste the seller’s time by waiting until you find the vehicle before having a pre-inspection setup.

A hassle free vehicle purchase may be possible. Likewise, unlimited free lunches are possible.

I can already hear the, “Yeah, but” chorus. As always, YMMV.

Salute!

Past sins, being a registered Democrat, means mailing lists are forever.  DCCC keeps mailing me fundraising pleas. This one had a two page letter from Speaker Pelosi.

As a concerned and involved citizen, I responded with a hand drawn middle finger and the envelope stuffed with crap from the wastebasket next to our mailboxes.

Please note they pay postage.

Just my contribution to their (hopefully) defeat this November.

Hey! Nobody accuses me of being a class act.

Casting Runes

Trespassing now on LL’s domain, some thought about the 2020 Election.

Is Slow Joe in the early stages of Alzheimer’s/Dementia?  A lot of speculation is going round on the possibility.

The Lightbringer has endorsed him while floating the idea of Moosechelle as the Vice President candidate. Readers of my blog know I think she will be the Democrat candidate.

This is what my runes are saying. Biden will be nominated with Michelle as V.P. Shortly, Joe will have a Clinton moment and the Dem insiders will elevate Michelle to their Presidential candidate.

A Clinton moment can take many forms. Pick your poison.

According to news reports, Slow Joe has already started forming a “transition team” assuming he will win. Want to bet none of them are unacceptable to the Lightbringer? Don’t bother betting; just send me the cash directly.

Slow Joe has tons of baggage plus the Sanders groupies will never vote for him. Michelle doesn’t bring much baggage, her husband is liked and admired by even the left wing, and the Dem insiders know they will be back in power.  A win/win for all?

Please know, I devotedly hope I’m wrong.

On a lighter note, I’ve always appreciated crude humor (a character defect) no matter who is the butt of the joke. For your amusement, or outrage, look at these.

Political Angst, (P)regressive Community

So maybe Slo Joe isn't completely dumb. Announced he asked the Lightbringer to not endorse him. Saves all those embarrassing questions later as to why the Lightbringer didn't endorse him.

Extreme angst. Assume you are a megadoner. You want to insure you have an entre to the new administration. Who, among the 21 announced candidates do you bribe? How do you time your donation(s)?

Next up are the Congressional seats. Donate to the established Donkeys? Donate to the (P)regressive flamers who will probably win the primary but lose the general to someone sane? After all, bribe money only goes so far. How sure are you the politician(s) you bought, stay bought?

Finally, Crazy Bernie, the turd in the punchbowl.

Decisions, decisions.

Reading the Shillary Tea Leafs

Obama’s third term?  Embrace Sander’s supporters?

When my blood pressure gets too low, I click on leftists sites. Works nearly every time. All this speculation about what Shillary will do as POTUS (God forbid that happens!!!!)

I have their answer, but they won’t like it. She will fuck over them all.

When has she ever kept her word? Honored a pledge? She and Billy are for sale to the highest bidder. Why does anyone think that will change?

Supposedly she and the Obamas are blood enemies. Think she won’t use her power to go after them? Payback will be a bitch when the bitch of all bitches has control.

IMO. YMMV.

Not so Fast

I enjoy the upheaval that is the Donald. Kicking the props out of smug assholes who have insulated themselves from critical examination. Giving the press an overdue blast.

He is saying what he will do as President to which I caution, not so fast Donny boy.

You will face a Senate with enough Democrats that can and will fight you over every Cabinet appointment, every Supreme court nomination and will employ every parliamentary trick known. These won’t be the all talk, no backbone RINO little Obama bitches. This will unrestricted war. Odds are farsighted Democrats are already planning strategy. James Carville Jr, anyone?

For eight years the (P)regressives have been filling civil service ranks. 1,000 lawyers in the EPA alone. They won’t go quietly.

Obama appointed czars. You appoint Inspector Generals with the legal authority to bring charges, and bring people to trial. Won’t happen using the Justice Department. At each turn of the screw, remind the public these are the spawn of the Democrats.

Properly handled, the next midterms will result in the American public throwing the entrenched bastards out. Then real progress can be made.

IMO YMMV

A World Without Borders

What follows is a personal political rant. You have been warned and may choose to move along.

Our current hack of a Secretary of State, the Viet Nam War hero turned Viet Nam War liar, gives a commencement speech where he states the ultimate goal is a world without borders. Pissed on the graves of every man and woman who died protecting our borders from foreign despots, he did.

Time after time Democrat Senators, and some Republicans, vote to cede portions of our national sovereignty to the United Nations. Sovereignty paid for by blood and sacrifice, and these smug elites just give it away.

For many years I was active in the Democrat Party. Yet, holding my nose, I’ve voted for the GOP Presidential candidate the last two times. Hell being a Blue Dog Democrat these days. Now I don’t even bother going to any Democrat functions and I seem to vote for the GOP candidates. I voted against Sen. Udall, and I will vote against Sen. Bennett. Damn me if I ever vote for someone giving away our sovereignty.

So, WSF, you are a Republican. Hell no. When I think of Republicans, I see Karl Rove, Grover Nordquist, and the rest of the “I’ve got mine, fuck you, and I will get yours too” crowd. Next up are the Evangelicals who care less about the Constitution than the Lightbringer (the S.C.F.O.A.M.F).

So where am I? Probably an old, burned out populist with anarchists tendencies.

I’m warming up to Donald Trump on the basis he can’t be worse than what we have. I’m firmly in the camp of anybody but Shillary.

My suggestion to Mr. Trump for his first hundred days is to take all of the social justice warriors in the military, and all the ones on the government payroll, form them into a task force and send them to Syria. There, they can teach the local population on social justice values.

Off subject entirely, something I saw on Facebook that made me laugh. This is for all the veterans.

Another Way of Voting

With the recent success of the "Colorado Model" progressive agenda in Colorado, the passage of stupid gun laws, and the stifling of local voices in favor of outsiders, I am done with the Democrat Party and Democrats.

In the past, I've contributed to various candidates resulting in being on  a lot  of email solicitation lists.

As I receive these emails, I "unsubscribe". When I do, a window pops up asking me why I'm unsubscribing. This allows me to tell them exactly what is on my mind. I hope it is more effective than "writing a letter".

Money talks?

Notice to the dead elephant party. I am not ready to go over to the dark side. You keep putting up candidates that should be in front of a grand jury instead of voters. Get your head out of your asses, or get a glass belly button so you can see where you are going.

Politics, Bah!

"When in danger, when in doubt, run in circles, scream and shout."

This is a Colorado specific blog entry. We have a Democrat Governor, the Democrats control both the state legislature and the state senate, and these asshats are spending most of their time on unconstitutional gun control legislation. The length of the legislative session is limited by law. At the end of the session, much of what needs to be fixed won’t be.

As an example, a very  dangerous job in the state is driving the prison buses. Little or no maintenance, old and worn out, more convicts have died riding in state operated buses than have been executed in recent years. Not a glamorous, get you on TV  issue, but one the legislators are elected to handle.

There are many, many,  more gritty problems and issues  impacting  our daily lives that require thoughtful study and long term solutions. In short, require work. We won’t get it this session as these clowns pose and posture; all the time building excuses for their lack of progress.

End of rant. If this applies to your state too, you have my condolences.

Big Tent, Big Lie

Received a recent fund raising email from the Democratic Party talking about the BIG TENT.
If you are a Blue Dog Democrat, you are welcome to sit in the back, keep your mouth shut, and your wallet open.

Then there is my sister.

Two mavericks that are quite out in the cold. Some might say, two loud mouths that don't know their "place". Guess we didn't get no proper fetchins. Deal with it!

Caucus

Went to my House District Precinct Caucus last night. Usual Democrat function; disorganized and argumentative. This is a redistricting year and many, including me, ended up in a different precinct. Much confusion.

Differences from before that struck me. One, and only one, Obama shirt. The woman had pined a 2010 badge over the 2008 logo. The women "of a certain age" that were there in force two years ago are gone. Somewhat disappointing as my fellow Blue Dog and I weren't able to torture them. A few new faces but mainly the same older group that shows up every time.

There were a few Obama supporters working the room. The comments I overheard about the Lightbringer were of the knee jerk loyalty nature, with no inner fire or excitement. The big focus was on local issue and local candidates, like county commissioners.

Some twit was passing around a two page "Progressive" broadside with claims about Republican votes over the years. I made myself very unpopular by pointing out the erroneous claims (Social Security, Interstate Highway System, etc.). The Progressive folks got quite pissy; a fine conclusion to an interesting evening.

Much to every one's relief, I declined the opportunity to become a county delegate. My Blue Dog friend was selected.

Was it worth the effort? I don't know. I do know I can squander a few hours a month trying to make a difference. But hey! What is title of my blog?

Get Involved, Please

“All politics are local” stated Tip O’Neal, late Speaker of the House.

Last night was the monthly coffee hour with our local State Senator. About 20 people attended. All local Democrats. All activists to one degree or another. Topics discussed were local and state issues. Schools, taxes, outside PAC’s, water issues, workman compensation issues, some ballot initiatives and issues, etc. Little national except for our ineffective Congress. This coming Saturday, a candidate for Congress will have an hour “coffee”. All this at our local I HOP.

Folks, this is where it all starts. Please get involved. An hour, here or there, out of your schedule won’t hurt your lifestyle. An hour, here or there, can damn well improve your chances for the kind of government you want.

Don’t be a one issue person. Your representative, or potential representative, must listen to many points of view and input on many issues. Have some respect for their position.

Last night I had an opportunity to speak about 2nd Amendment issues. I said something along these lines. “Since Mr. Obama’s election, the people of this country have, voluntarily and with their own money, purchased enough firearms to equip the world’s four largest standing armies. That is a “poll” that should capture your attention.” My Senator was visibly startled. Got some long, hard looks from several in the room.

I’m a fat, grumpy, senior citizen with no wealth, but I can have, however small, an impact. So can you. Get involved.

We can blog, we can write emails, letters, etc., and be ignored Going face to face, belly to belly with a politician makes it much harder to be ignored.

Shy? Uncomfortable speaking in public? Get over it (and yourself).

Political Payback???

John Edward’s prosecution is puzzling. Many of the “experts” think the government’s case is weak and may even be tossed by a judge. Whatever the outcome, he is feeling some pain. One wonders if this isn’t some payback from the Obama camp for being a candidate or other political transgressions? Could it be a warning to others considering opposing Obama? Could cause some to rethink their plans.

I was an early Edwards supporter. Part was the “lesser of several evils” position. More likely, a personal interest in an ardent Edwards supporter. This was when I was active in the Democratic Party - pre Obama.

Another line of thought. What would be the outcome if the MSM looked at Obama with the same intensity of the check stand tabloids? Think that will ever happen?

I still admire anyone who has the guts to run for public office, knowing they will face a shitload of aggravation, as part of the process.

An addition from a recent email. Stark reminder of the kind of person that is our president.

ObamaCare

This is the letter I sent my Congressman.

The Honorable Ed Perlmutter
415 Cannon House Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20515

Dear Congressman Perlmutter,

I wanted to take a moment to explain why I won’t be contributing to your campaign for reelection nor will I be voting for you this fall. Simply, I am sickened by the way “Health Care Reform” was passed. As an attorney, how much of it do you think will stand up to legal challenge? You have a very direct responsibility because you are on the committee that handled the bill.

There are many things you do that I admire. Your commitment to constituent services. Your “Government at the Grocery”. You efforts on behalf of Veterans. My friends in the American Legion speak highly of you. At a personal level, one of my cousin’s daughter and your daughter were on the same soccer team. My cousin tells me you are a good family man. You make your position on issues clear in your communications.

Last election you received my contribution and vote. While I find you lukewarm in support of the 2nd Amendment, an issue important to me, your opponent didn’t seem to offer anything but negative rhetoric.

In this state, we have the outstanding example of bi-partisanship shown by Senator Gordon and Speaker Romanoff before they left the Legislature because of term limits. I see nothing of this in Washington, D.C. Perhaps I am wrong but you don’t seem to exhibit any leadership in this area. You seem to completely support Speaker Pelosi who seems to have learned her leadership skills from Tom DeLay.

As a Blue Dog Democrat, I will find it hard to vote for, much less work for, a Republican. I’m beginning to believe this country needs to send 535 fresh faces to Washington, D.C. this January. There seems to be a belief that any health care legislation is better than no legislation. As of today, thirteen State Attorney Generals are preparing law suits to block what was passed. More will likely follow. I think these people have excellent legal minds. That they are taking this action speaks volumes.

I hope you can spend the remainder of your term representing us, your constituents, and not always being in agreement with the House leadership.

Sincerely yours,

ETC

I have no illusions this letter will do a damn thing. I feel better for writing it and it is at least something I can do.
