Your State Will Be Blue

The Blueprint

How Colorado went from a solid Red State to forever Blue. Most of this is behind pay walls or for sale on Amazon, etc. A brief account from the Rocky Mountain Minute.

In the early 2000s four ultra wealthy progressives, Jared Polis, Tim Gill, Rutt Bridges, and Pat Stryker, launched a plan called The Blueprint. Their goal was to flip Colorado from red to blue and lock it down for good. They did not just focus on big elections. They targeted small local races, poured millions into “nonpartisan” nonprofits that were actually Democrat recruitment machines, and built a web of think tanks, activist groups, and friendly media outlets to control the narrative year round.

Jared Polis, our current term limited Emperor, has his sights set on the Presidency.

This blueprint is being replicated, allegedly, in many other states. Will it continue to work? In Colorado’s last election the (P)regressives spend a lot of money trying to elect county Sheriffs and failed.

They have more success with District Attorneys.

 More “Settled Science” B.S.???

You can run but you can’t hide forever. A smart lawyer kept his Mercedes in a controlled access garage in downtown Denver. He lived in a gated community with security guards. One evening he and his spouse parked in a shopping center garage. Ten minutes later the Mercedes was on the way to the dealer’s locked back lot. Got paid a thousand for that snatch.

 A Charger we owned

We had a 1973, same color and roof treatment, for a few years. Other than replacing the OEM voltage regulator with one that lasted, we had few problems. Only had a 318 c.i.d motor but that was enough.

Tisk, tisk

Soon the wolves will turn their attention to feral horses. That will cause a shit storm.

Knees are Kaupt

Recent knee examination showed bone on bone on the inside of both knees. Not a surprise. Replacement at this time is not recommended. Weight loss will help. Steroid shot in each knee for now. Age is bitch. The doctor looks like he just graduated high school.

Damn, I must change my ways

Next year (Jan 1) no more holding a cell phone while driving goes into effect in Colorado. This old geezer will need to read instructions, learn how to use Bluetooth (whatever that is) to link the phone to an earpiece, buy and install a cell phone holder, etc. Yeah, I hear a bunch of you saying, “Oh, poor baby”. I will continue to bitch, regardless of what others may think.

Hail

Colorado had a bad hail storm that hit Yuma hard (5/20-5/21) overnight. Golf ball to baseball sized hail stripped vinyl siding off some buildings. Roofs everywhere destroyed. My sister’s sister by another mother lives in the area and is facing challenges.

Korf Motors in Yuma had one new car roof punctured, like shot by a bullet punctured, by hail per one of Sisty’s insurance adjuster friends.

Democracy is wonderful until it isn’t – Ballot initiatives

Wonderful, until your pet ox is being gored. A long article about efforts to place initiatives into law bypassing the legislative process and having voters decide. This has seen past success in Colorado (wolves, anyone). A recent successful initiative will put a constitutional amendment guarantying a right to abortion on the 2024 ballot.

MORE

My last foray into the process was the Weld County, WY effort. That went nowhere.

Shrewd Hire

Deion Sanders, Coach Prime, as head coach of the University of Colorado football team. After many dismal years, all season tickets are sold out for the second year in a row. Sales of sports paraphernalia has soared. Interesting, he isn’t the highest paid coach in Colorado. That is the head coach in Ft Collins at CSU.

Rick George, the Athletic Director, has used all this new revenue to improve facilities for all sports. Lights for the soccer field as an example.

Disclaimer. I’m no CU fan. That said, I admire the way Coach Prime runs his program. He demands high standards in academics and behavior. Several high profile 5 star players have left because of those standards. He hasn’t wavered and I admire him for that.

Plus, my evil heart relishes the angst of the woke (P)regressives that invest Boulder County and CU. A God fearing and preaching black man in their midst who speaks his mind and damn the torpedoes? How do they attack him? How do they bring him back on the plantation? TeeHeeHee!

Iranian Helicopter crash

Two other helicopters, per reports, were accompanying the bigwigs and didn’t have a problem. Further, it took ground crews to find the crash site. Now, LL may be correct about the Jesus nut. That is the simplest answer (Occam’s razor). All the political intrigue that permeates that part of the world along with the many Mossad successes, will we ever know (or, given the assholes who died, care)?

I feel so protected

My Colorado tax returned showed up in the mail. The accompanying explanation explained their effort to combat fraud. Democrats worried about fraud? Perhaps they are motivated to hang on as long as possible to the $800 TABOR refund every filer is entitled? Nah, couldn’t be that.

To be clear I’ve loathed this department since 1968 when my wages were attached for taxes levied against my Army earnings even though I spent one day in Colorado after joining.

Surprise

Amazing, coming from the University of Washington. Are they at war with the Oregon State University (one of the louder Chicken Littles)?

Changes, changes

I stopped at a 7-11 to pay my tax on people bad at math (loto). The person behind the counter was 6’ 200 lbs. Baritone voice, makeup, hair style feminine, wearing some sort of mesh bonnet and black colored clothing not traditional (lots of lace).

My order was promptly and correctly processed. My change was correct. The cashier was polite and pleasant.

Upon reflection, decided to file the encounter under life’s little surprises.

Karma

Until 1995 when I started using a CPAP, I was a horrible snorer. Once at Ft Leonard Wood I woke up outside. The other soldiers picked up my bunk with me in it, still asleep, and carried it outside, dead of winter.

What Karma you ask? I have a dog that snores, loudly.

High cost of unreliable electric power

An interesting analysis of the economic costs of a recent, short term, interruption of electricity.

Blackouts

Granted this was in response to high winds whipping power lines and not a direct result of “green energy”. It is a foretaste of green energy unreliability.

The picture? I freeze a cup 2/3 full of water. One frozen, I place a quarter on top. If power is out for an extended period during my absence, the quarter sinks and alerts me my food is probably spoiled even if refrozen.

Hats and eating.

Law Dog has a post up regarding wearing a hat while eating.

How Do They Do It?

How do they do it, the writers who put up something every day? My process is twofold. One is reading something that pisses me off. Second, after the 0400 bladder drain, lie in bed for an hour or two reviewing all the dumb mistakes I’ve done in my life. Some of that ends up in a Word document that lingers on the computer until I get around to posting it. After my kinetic alarm clock wakens me I sometimes remember what I reviewed.

What is a kinetic alarm clock? A 80 lb Treat Hound self petting on the end of my bed, encouraging me to get up and feed him breakfast.

A Karen Moment

My late ex wife was named Karen. A very appropriate and fitting name as she moved through life.

Two days ago my phone rang. It was my middle son. Conversation was as follows.

“I pulled a Karen and locked my keys in my car. I have a locksmith coming and he will charge me $120”.

He went on to explain that the roadside assistance provided by our State Farm policy sucks, he doesn’t want to wait hours, and he doesn’t want to deal with a female Ebonics speaker.

I should add he is not a racist. As a high functioning Asperger Syndrome individual, his observations are blunt, to the point, and unfiltered.

More evidence? Denver, CO started having small earthquakes after waste was pumped deep into rock formations nearby. After the pumping stopped, the earthquakes stopped. Long explanation.

MORE

In 1967 while living in the Capitol Hill area of Denver, my visiting father and I were drinking coffee on a front porch. We watched as a small ripple, like on water, come across the ground shaking the building. My first experience with an earthquake. Not his. Ancestry

Swiped this map from LL’s blog, Virtual Mirage, and a though percolated up in the chaos that is my mind. How much has relative inexpensive DNA testing changed our interpersonal relationships?

A personal experience. My youngest son had his DNA tested by Ancestry.com and shared his results. Startled me, as his percentage of Norwegian ancestry was very high. His mother was 1st generation Norwegian (Yah sure, yah betcha) but nothing in my family’s oral history hinted at any Norwegian ancestors. Although in my mind I questioned if I was his biological father, I shrugged. He was my son.

Sometime later I did the test. Surprises! While I’m 99.9% Caucasian,  about 8% is Norwegian! Guess some Viking raped one of my Irish ancestors. The test identified a biological son, with a code name. When I mentioned it to him, he excitedly told me that was him!

My response? “Good to know. Now I won’t need to slap your mother”.
