Make (P)ergressives Clutch Pearls?

Not a bad idea. Given the cost of ammo and the distance to a shooting range, I may pass.

Yes!

Social Security Fraud

DOGE has uncovered massive Social Security fraud. Why not take those 55,000 IRS employees Biden hired and put them to work on this? Or, helping with the administrative side of deportations.

 Selma, AL

Reading this stirred a memory again about this time I our history.

MORE

I had a job testing pre-production cars and trucks around 2010-2012 that involved frequent trips to Montgomery, AL and the Hyundai plant.

Often I would have a day or two lay over. On one occasion I visited Selma.  Two things struck me during my visit. Among the patrons at a small restaurant where I had lunch were two black policemen. Nobody in the place seemed to find that unusual including the policemen. The second was a fairly elaborate interpretive walk near the Edmund Pettus Bridge. While well done the walk was rundown and full of trash! This angered me.

Everywhere you go in the South you will see Confederate cemeteries in great condition (and some neglected). It struck me black university fraternities and sororities could damn well devote a few weekends a year maintaining the place as a matter of pride and honoring the people who bleed and died there advancing civil rights.

Late Night Musings

Was I born a rebel? No, more like born a malcontent. Is it my Irish DNA? The Irish will seldom fight for anything but will always fight against everything.

 Deep State

Back when Willie was running for President, the mantra was, “It is the economy, stupid”. The Swamp and their camp followers will scream, “Orange Man Bad” as loud and shrill as possible hoping the sheeple will ignore the evidence pilling up that we dirt people have been hosed for decades. Will it work?

Do Environazis Clutch Pearls?

President Trump’s nominating Kathleen Sqamma as BLM Director is giving them vapors. Horrors! She currently heads up The Western Energy Alliance working to promote the interests of oil and gas producers.

Who are they?

First order of business is moving the BLM Headquarters back to Grand Junction, CO.

Soon there will more good paying jobs available for the common folk of the rural West instead of service jobs catering to those wealthy enough to afford to recreate. Can’t happen soon enough, IMO.

Next target? Hopefully the Forest Service.

National Guard

Deploying Nation Guard members outside the United States, absent a declared war, shouldn’t happen, IMO. I’ve always felt this to be proper. I’m likely to be in the minority on this subject.

The Biden Administration seemly used National Guard units as political pawns. Let us hope the Trump Administration is different.

Wyoming land grab model coming to your locality in the future

Disclaimer: I’m not a lawyer and much of this is over my head.

The Bureau of Land Management is creating new categories of public land leases (hello, Loper?) that will halt common uses in favor of “conservation”, i.e., radical environmentalist wet dreams.

MORE

Earlier this year a bizarre scheme was shot down by the Wyoming Congressional delegation. The Security and Exchange Commission was on the verge of approving a scheme where private companies could raise money to buy recreational rights to BLM managed lands in Wyoming. This would allow these companies to deny public access. Recreational use would be the exclusive domain of these private companies.

Bad Judgment Compounded

The company I hang paper for had a Denver agent go into the hospital. As a favor (and handsome compensation) I spent two days covering the assignments. At one house, loan seriously delinquent, was an Audi SUV with a temporary license. Curious, I checked it out. The door was unlocked so I looked at the mileage, 134,000.

Expensive cars new will have expensive repairs used. Any late model European car, with over 100,000 miles will be a money pit. Wow, I bought this for $4,000! Yes, and you will spend twice that, per year, keeping it running. Don’t believe me? Check the Car Wizard YouTube channel.

A: Voting

F^*k Obama's Legacy

The elitist’s war on rural America continues as the entrenched civil service continues fighting to preserve the ‘Obama Legacy’, IMO. Being a Colorado resident, this post will be Mountain West centric.

The three main agencies grinding down rural America are the EPA, the BLM, and the USFS.

Many people are aware of the EPA’s war on coal. Fewer are aware of the EPA’s war on water, the Waters of the United States rule.

There was a lot of hollering about a small rancher near Gillette, WY being attacked over a small stock pond on his property. A sideshow and smoke screen.

The single most precious commodity in the West is water. Water rights protect all agriculture operations and municipal water sources. What the Waters of the United States “rule” does is give the Federal Government a back door way to control all water rights. How long before allocating “for the common good” follows? Supercede all those pesky State's rights. Visualize the "pay to play" opportunities.

A hoary old Colorado saying, “Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting” may be more than an amusing phrase if the government starts messing with water rights.

Stock growers depend on public land grazing for their livelihood. They pay some steep fees for the privilege.  The practice is always under attack.

Much the same goes for the US Forest service.

The Colorado Rockies have a maze of old railroad grades and mining roads that have been used for decades for back country recreation. The USFS is systematically closing them down to anything but foot traffic. Why, because they can get away with it.

Means they need fewer ‘boots on the ground’ rangers freeing money for more REMFs. Also pleases the tree huggers.

Speaking of trees, in the 1950’s Engelmann spruce trees were killed off by Japanese beetles. In the past twenty years or so much of the lodgepole pines have been killed by native beetles. The USFS has done little to mitigate the problem or allowing logging of the dead trees. Surprise, wildfires have become a huge problem.

In areas not burned, the spruce trees are staging a comeback in the midst of the dead lodgepole. Will we have another spruce beetle crisis?

Will we ever see an end to stock growers, loggers, ORV operators, and other recreationists behaving badly? Of course not. That is why we will always need some type of policing. Will we ever see an end to police overstepping their boundaries? Again, of course not. What we do have are policies and procedures that work, even imperfectly.

Reforms? Interesting proposal from Senator Cory Gardner (R) CO.

As stated, this posting is Mountain West centric. Anywhere around the West you will find the Obama legacy over reach. John Day, OR. The Bundy Ranch. The Bears Ears National Monument in Utah.

And the list goes on.

So far President Trump seems to be forming a cabinet of adults. Given his business background, he will likely let them do their jobs as opposed to the last eight years. Other than Eric Holder, and maybe Shillary, the Obama Cabinet were figureheads following orders from unelected and unvetted West Wing staffers,  IMO.
