May Their Mouths Overload Their Asses

Grumpy Old Man Rant

You may want to skip this Colorado specific bloviating.

The rejection of the (P)regressive agenda that swept the nation and put PDJT back into the Oval Office barely touched Colofornia. The past Legislative session saw the gaggle of Front Range Karens and mountain town trust fund snots push the full gender bending agenda, curtailing parental control, odious unconstitutional gun control, eroding free speech, and more environment fallacies.

While “helping” the underdogs (which I support) they perpetuate dependency while creating well paid jobs for their chosen few to ‘administer’ the programs.

In Colorado, tax increases from the state level to a water district, by our constitution, require voter approval. So, let’s just label them “fees”. No problem with the courts as our state Supreme Court judges are 100% (P)regressives.

Fix our roads? No, it is more important to take $4,000,000 from that budget and create a war chest for Emperor Polis to fight Trump.

One glimmer of hope lies in the Democrats abject failure to elect county commissioners in the rural counties and pickup any federal Congressional seats.

Hurrah!

Sorry, wrong picture

The environazis lose again. Outside of the Front Range sprawl, EVs are of limited use in Colorado. To forcible shove them down rural Coloradoan throats is an abuse of power. Said abuse has never deterred the environazis. Their feelings will always overrule mere facts and/or what harms ‘lesser’ citizens.

Uinta Basin Railroad wins, Environazis lose

Previous posts have mentioned the effort to move heavy crude from one of the poorest places in the country to refineries that can process it. A win for Northeast Utah and a loss to Venezuela is always worth cheering, IMO. For the trust fund snots infesting Eagle County, their NIMBY asses can kick rocks.

This situation is now an international story and mixed into national politics. Not a bad thing; sunlight is a great disinfectant.

Mike Coffman is the Aurora Mayor (term limited) and is nobody's patsy. Aurora has always been a pimple on Denver's ass (years past we owned two homes there). It is divided by two counties (Adams on the North, Arapahoe on the South) that results in different tax and bond systems. Denver's main jail sits on the North side.  The city is home to more immigrants, legal and illegal, than any other place in Colorado. There is a significant perpetually pissed off black population and a mobile "unhoused" population. Squeezed continually are 'native' Mexican descendants. The city council is always split between (P)regressives and conservatives. At the moment the conservatives have a slim majority. The Chief of Police office has been a revolving door forever. Some officers would have been at home in the LAPD Rampart division circa Rodney King.

Perhaps Aurora's biggest problem is the Califorication of Colorado with the suburban Liberals keeping their neighbors nice while pushing problems into Aurora and surrounding locales.

We Lack National Will

As a society we have gone from bold innovators to nay saying sheep, IMO. Prove me wrong, please!

Amazing, coming from the University of Washington. Are they at war with the Oregon State University (one of the louder Chicken Littles)?

Changes, changes

I stopped at a 7-11 to pay my tax on people bad at math (loto). The person behind the counter was 6’ 200 lbs. Baritone voice, makeup, hair style feminine, wearing some sort of mesh bonnet and black colored clothing not traditional (lots of lace).

My order was promptly and correctly processed. My change was correct. The cashier was polite and pleasant.

Upon reflection, decided to file the encounter under life’s little surprises.

Karma

Until 1995 when I started using a CPAP, I was a horrible snorer. Once at Ft Leonard Wood I woke up outside. The other soldiers picked up my bunk with me in it, still asleep, and carried it outside, dead of winter.

High cost of unreliable electric power

An interesting analysis of the economic costs of a recent, short term, interruption of electricity.

Blackouts

Granted this was in response to high winds whipping power lines and not a direct result of “green energy”. It is a foretaste of green energy unreliability.

The picture? I freeze a cup 2/3 full of water. One frozen, I place a quarter on top. If power is out for an extended period during my absence, the quarter sinks and alerts me my food is probably spoiled even if refrozen.

Hats and eating.

Law Dog has a post up regarding wearing a hat while eating.

I don’t eat while wearing a hat. I’m simply not comfortable. Guess growing up I had proper fetching.

Not In My Backyard

The envirokooks war against energy continues. No fracking to release natural gas (which is mainly methane, by the way).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natural_gas

No reducing our trade imbalances by exporting coal.

http://www.greeleytribune.com/news/4512306-113/coal-mine-decker-industry#.UQauTm43NCk.email

All that nasty stuff needs a port to ship from. Oh  no, not in MY backyard!  I have my job; don’t see why we need more good paying jobs in our area, nosiree.

But, of course, it is all for protecting Mother Gaia; not for my selfish self interest.  Plus, we have too many people. We need programs to encourage the surplus, who are not our types, to die off.  Better get them disarmed, first.

King Coal

The Obama administration makes no secret they are out to eliminate the use of coal in this country, particularly for electrical generation. The production of electricity consumes nearly 40% of all energy use in this country. Useful information and statistics can be found at

http://205.254.135.7/electricity/monthly/ .

My extended families mainly live in a band from Casper, WY to the Four Corners area. Probably half work in energy, mainly coal, either mining it, finding it, transporting it, or burning it. Many of my female cousins are truly coal miner’s daughters and several are, or retired as, coal miners. Predictably, I’m very interested in the health of the industry. Half of all electricity we use is generated burning coal.

Coal cost one tenth the cost of petroleum and two thirds the cost of natural gas for electrical generation (See Table 9.10 in the stated source). This will all change as the environment crowd have their way.  Your electric bill, especially if you live on the East Coast, will make you look at the jump in gasoline prices with nostalgia. Think I’m wrong? Query your electrical supplier as to what they are paying on the futures market for power this winter. Or

http://peripateticengineer.blogspot.com/

So where will you cut back when your electric bill jumps $100 to $150 a month? You already have cut back to pay the extra $100 or so at the pump. If, in fact, we have a consumer based economy, what will this do to consumer spending?

At a personal level, I’m preparing for a tough winter. How about you?
