Frustrated Latter Day Luddite

Today I was beaten and kicked to the curb by MacDonald's self order kiosk. All I wanted was a soft serve cone and wasn't smart enough to get it done.

I urgently needed a restroom which was the reason I stopped. As a personal value, I won't use a business' sanitary facility without spending money there, even if it is coffee or a lottery ticket.  I dislike mooches and avoid being one.

After three times becoming ill after eating their food, I swore off MacDonalds. The last time put me in bed for two days at a motel in Russell, Kansas (2006). A soft serve cone should be safe.

It is doubtful any fast food business worries about losing someone in my demographic.

As usual when confronted with a problem involving something I really don't need, I just said, "Fuck it", and walked away.

Soft Serve ice cream isn't worth all the hassle. Using the head isn't mooching. Letting someone else pay for an ice cream is. Go piss and get on your way.

It is the way I roll.

Yeah, they ARE confusing... And also covered in fecal matter... I saw one McD's with wipes attached to the screen and a handwritten note to please use the wipes!

I'll continue to avoid them.

Aw, bad mouthing my favorite restaurant, normally I agree with you Fool, but Mickey D's is off limits.

Here's how you do it: go with their strengths - burger (regular, no cheese), fries and maybe a fruit pie. Nobody's ever got sick off of that. Now, when you venture into the stuff they never did before such as soft serve ice cream cones, salads, then you are taking your chances. They rose to the top on burgers and fries. Stick to the knitting, as they say.

McDonald's rules.

Cali has In-N-Out, the South Whataburger and we are starting to see Freddys and one Steak and Shake. I'll stick with Burger King for now. Wendy in a pinch.

Fool: In-N-Out used to be outstanding. Now they suck. Steak and Shake also lame.

Burger King: I like it, always have. Wendy's also good.

But McDonald's fries are the best in the world. Hot, though, fresh out of the 350 degree shortening (don't call it grease); cold Mickey D fries are the worst in the world.

Not familiar with Freddy's, although the name is outstanding.

PS: Whataburger used to be the most awesome burger anywhere...40 years ago, when it was just in the southwest. Now it is getting pretty sucky. Back then, Whataburger competed with another SW chain called Lotta-Burger, to see who had the biggest burger, a healthy competition. Don't know what happened to Lotta-Burger, but they were awesome, too.

Some of the "sit down" places aren't bad. Red Robin?

Circa 1970's did business with a Pendelton, OR Co-op that supplied MickeyD with potatoes. The process, from selecting the variety to harvesting and processing was exacting. My business with them didn't involve potatoes but successful salesmen are always interested in their customers.

Every Red Robbin I've been in, the service sucked, and they were overpriced for what you got...

I rarely eat out so can't disagree. When I do it is usually Sunday Brunch with friends at the Double Clutch restaurant in Evans, CO. Plain good food and generous portions.
