One granddaughter is in high school ROTC. I'm not sure just how this works but her's is Navy with Marine instructors. In any case she was recently promoted to PO3.
As I understand it, this is an E-4 rank. That is what her father held when he left active duty with a medical discharge.
Since she has been a straight A honor student since first grade, she might qualify for a full ride through college or even an appointment to an Academy.
Not that I'm a proud grandfather or anything.

That's Awesome! You should be proud and so should she.
Does she want to go Navy or Marine Corps?
I sense a very bright future for her.

She is a wonderful person who had a rough start in life and a childhood that was difficult. I'm in awe of what she has accomplished so far in life.

I'm not sure but will try to steer her towards the Green Machine if the military is for her. She is determined to continue her education beyond high school and do so without crushing student debt.
She is a lovely young lady and smart, too. I know you are proud, especially with all she had to overcome. I wish her success (and a Navy career if she so desires militar added to her college career). The Navy will pay for her college, too.
Kids like your g-daughter are the bright spot in what otherwise looks like a pretty gloomy future. They give me hope.
Given that binary choice, I hope she goes Eagle/Globe/Anchor.

Thank you. I'm sure she is weighing options and my DIL is there to assist. DIL is one smart cookie. Two MA's and starts a new career Jan as a special ed teacher. Not her "birth" mother but the one she has had since age two.

I think there are many more like her. They don't get noticed. She is somewhat shy and has always been unassuming. Others don't see the steel core and the determination. If there is anything in racial inheritance, she is Celtic, Norwegian, and Finnish. At her father's funeral, she was the one going around giving comfort to others.
Congrats to her! Now she can be a miscreant E-4...LOL

Like her father and grandfather?
Tell the young lady "BZ"!
She's on a good path, and may she go far in life.

Hope to see her (and the rest of the herd) in a month or two.
