"Gun" Control. Yeah, That Will Work

Firearm control hypocrisy- Ronald Reagan edition

"The Mulford Act was passed really directly in response to the Black Panther Party bearing arms and self-defense legally." The bill limiting the right to openly carry loaded guns was supported by the National Rifle Association and signed into law by then Gov. Ronald Regan in 1967.May 27, 2023

That framework is the basis for many of the ‘gun laws’ enacted since.

Speaking of Regan, to many he was a hero. I’ve always thought he was a bought and paid for shill.

Kindness of Strangers – Banner specific

Several residents of our apartment complex are concerned he may be starving. There are two ‘treat’ stations on our floor. At least three other residents carry treats with them.

Rather than fight the situation, I supply the treats. The wrong treats give him extreme flatulence.

The joy he and the treat givers enjoy brings smiles and laughs to everyone (except the miserable haters – f**k’em).

Blasted dog will eat almost anything. So far the only thing he has rejected is garlic stuffed olives.

Letter to the Editor – ‘Gun Control’

I will be amazed if it is published. At least one leftist puke will read it before hitting ‘delete’.

Gun Violence.

Once again we see some state legislators feverishly working on gun violence. What a waste of time. Per the FBI published reports, we have an annual firearms death rate of about 80,000 per year in a country of 316,000,000 people. About half are suicides.

We have a crime problem. Criminals use guns, duh. Will criminals obey even more draconian laws?

All the time and energy expended by legislators posturing to their voters, “Look, we are doing something!!!!”, takes away from tackling real problems, like drugs. As an example, how many babies are born each week with drugs in their systems just here in Greeley?

Legislators, let law enforcement deal with gun violence. Tackle real problems instead of posturing and fear mongering.

Emperor Polis

The mask mandate has been extended another month depending on where your county/community falls on some “color” scale, purple to green. My county is currently listed as “yellow”.

After a year of this nonsense, I see increasing scofflaw behavior. Most common is the mask below the nose. My guess, over half of mask wearers including store employees,  don’t cover their nose.

Must all be mouth breathers?

This morning I visited Harbor Freight where around 1/3 of the customers weren’t wearing masks (including yours truly).  As a major downstream China outlet, their stock is low and many bare shelves were to be seen. What I wanted wasn’t in stock so I left without buying anything.

Emperor Polis will claim credit after MLB moved the All-star game from Atlanta to Denver. Interesting, MLB moved it to a city with around a 15% black population in a state with 4% of the population counted as black by the Census Bureau. The state has stronger voting laws, including ID requirements, than the recent Georgia voter action. Of course, Colorado is mail in voting only.

(Doesn’t matter really with the blue counties dominating the population and enforcement/scrutiny of voting absent in those counties.)

See where the American Media Maggots (h/t BZ) are all atwitter over SloJo “gun control” Executive Orders. What I see so far is a focus on fringe points that will still energize their base. Firearms owners will continue, “We Will Not Comply”, and trillions of innocent electrons will be killed as polemics are written. Fund raising by groups on all sides will be stepped up.

I think I will go take a nap.

Selfish

The people who are emotionally in favor of all kinds of gun control are motivated by selfishness, IMO. Please follow my possible feeble reasoning.

A large number of people hate guns. Perhaps they have had an experience with some nut job and had a traumatic experience. Perhaps they have never even handled a gun but are scared of them to their core. Will any amount of factual information do anything to change their minds?

Doubtful.

Here is where the selfishness comes in.

“I am special, my family is special, and my friends are special. It is outrageous we should be made to feel uncomfortable because of your, to us archaic and unfathomable, ‘rights’. Our need to be untroubled is far more important than anything you want”.

Today I read a comment on OldAF Sarge’s blog written by Prairie Adventure that resonated with me. I urge you to read it.

Because of this selfishness and the resulting dishonesty any firearm laws will be subverted and perverted by the gun grabbers while patting themselves on the back for their ‘superior’ wisdom.

Red Flag Laws are the current example. I know, and I’m sure readers know, people who are so careless and bat shit crazy they are a danger to themselves and others. The gun grabbers see this as an opportunity, not to enhance public safety, but to disarm everyone (but their selected few bodyguards).

This is a battle that will never end. We must be committed to fighting it forever.

 As always, YMMV

A personal quibble. I don’t use the word, “gun” unless referring to a smoothbore. Firearms, pistol, rifle, whatever, but not “gun”.  Eight weeks at Ft Leonard Wood, circa 1963, reinforced that mindset.

ADDENDUM
I'm always willing to recognize I may be wrong. Herre is another view.

Firearms Control

Starting with a side rant, possibly pointless. If more people did 50 push ups on crushed gravel on a hot Ft Leonard Wood afternoon, they wouldn’t call anything not a smoothbore a “gun”.  Just saying.

No outright ban and confiscation is the “compromise” the firearms control crowd offer. All the rest of their rhetoric is bullshit. They take each and every concession as a weakness and push for more. Since they are not honest, or respectful of any opinion not in line with their own, no concessions should  be made, IMO.

This creates a more dangerous situation. All of us active shooters know of the dangerous idiots out there with access to firearms. I personally lack the courage to ever be a NRA Range officer. Any fool that can pass a background check and has the money can equip themselves with lethal machinery and not have a clue as to safety, or even care. Whee, adrenaline rush.

In a more perfect world, no one would possess a firearm without training and proven competence, IMO. Ain’t going to happen. Anything like that will be grabbed by the Chuck Schumers of our country and used to advance their agenda.

What to do about “gun violence”?  At every opportunity blame the gun grabbers.

“Hey, Mr/Ms Gun Grabber, that death is on your door step. You, with you self assumed moral high ground and the conviction your feeling are facts, won’t heed the voices of those who actually know what the hell they are talking about. This is your outcome.”

We should take a page from President Trump and go on the offense. Build a case that we have solutions but the Schumers of our country are the obstacle.

I recently put up a post, “Buck No”, about the congressman from my district voting against the National Reciprocity bill even when he was an original co-sponsor. Was it flawed with being tied to ‘improved’ background checks? Undoubtedly. When has any legislation been perfect?

WSF, you are arguing against yourself. True, but our fellow citizens whose opinions differ still have a voice that should be heard. Not all are demagogues. And maybe, just maybe, they should be heard by firearm advocates. Yeah, pay those traffic tickets. Show you are a responsible and sane citizen. Your right to bear arms comes with an obligation to bear those arms responsibly, not scare the shit out of your fellow citizens.

Let us understand not everyone calling for “gun control” is a Chucky Schumer. If you want to create one more, let that soccer mom who may be ambivalent now believe her children are in danger. She is the one who needs to know what makes a safer place for her children. How? One on one. Be prepared to talk to those who may have an open mind. YMMV

Firearm Sales

Best line I've read lately.

"We’re not protecting ourselves from the government, but in spite of them."

http://coloradopeakpolitics.com/2015/12/21/stop-the-presses-post-gets-it-wrong-on-gun-sales

Just a small, personal, point. Unless referring to a smooth-bore, if I ever use the word "gun", send me off on a mile run with a full field pack.

Over the Top?

A comment I made on a Facebook posting today. She had put up something from the New York Times.

So sick of the high priests and priestess of the Church of Assumed Moral High Ground bloviating their opinions as facts and using "sources" who's research methodology is crap by any accepted standard. Sorry *****, we will never agree.

Change? One Can Hope

Are the winds of change blowing? What follows is a meandering political rant. You have been warned.

Looking for political trends in Colorado is, for me, frustrating. I’ve been consistently wrong. Still, I see some hope.

The political status quo got blindsided by the Colorado Model. Four trust fund babies funded it, and it has been tremendously effective. A good explanation of it is.

Starting with this political Pearl Harbor, the “Progressives” got control of both chambers of the State House, the Governorship, and both US Senate seats. Using their power, they have forced passage of many of their pet protects including “gun control” and renewable energy.

All of this has generated a grass roots pushback. A good summation is in a recent Michelle Malkin column.

The Progressive whine against recall elections seems centered on the meme that regular elections only should be used to remove legislators.

Much has been written about the 51st State initiative. One ultra liberal high school classmate (Class of 1961), retired teacher, and Boulder resident (where else?) called it a,

“Rural temper tantrum against a majority opinion”.

Seems she has forgotten our system of government is designed to protect minorities, of all kinds and beliefs, from the tyranny of majorities. Seemly, she has forgotten her ranch raised roots. It does seem some politicians are hearing a message. Governor Wishywashy is making conciliatory noises. Individual Democrats planning campaigns are finding a chilling climate among rural Democrats. Local party officials (Committee men/women, Treasurers, Precinct leaders, etc.) are not welcoming their visits nor willing to drive them around and make introductions to local mover and shakers. My few contacts among the GOP types are telling the same story.

An interesting trend is the pushback against the Common Core education collectivists. Some of the strongest pushback are in “liberal soccer mom” districts. Again, Michelle Malkin.

With my move, I’m now in a different county and different Congressional district. One immediate benefit is this county’s sheriff is CCL friendly so will go ahead and get one. Will start doing legally what I’ve been doing illegally for years. While Colorado is a “will issue” state, a sheriff can still make it damn difficult.

Should you have made it this far, thank you for your interest and patience.
