Nanny Shitheads

A rant.

My new dwelling is plumbed and lighted to nanny state shaving water and electricity standards. Pisses me off.

The washing machine only fills as full as someone, not me, thinks it should. Like below.

The low slung toilet creates the best angle to help the colon, if you are vertically challenged. Getting a clean flush can take three tries. That saves water?
The restricted shower head is going away. Only a five minute job, I have the tools and material, and recently changed my sister's showerhead in slightly over thirty minutes.

Next are the light bulbs. Notice the prongs, not threads. These are hard to find locally and not as bright as I want. I'm sure the numb nuts (or tits, can't be sexes) who specified the wattage for these apartments chose what they think we all should use.

Yes, I realize this is a first world problem. Last I checked I live in the first world, thank you very much.  As always, YMMV.

One of the first things I did here was to swap out the shower heads. I want WATER, damn it, not some trickle that won't blast off the soap.

And the wife gripes about the new "High Efficiency" washer and dryer we bought. It's sloooow and makes weird noises.

I don't think I've ever seen "bulbs" with a socket like that. Almost looks like some of the EuroTrash stuff I had to work with on the ships I worked on.

At least we have LED bulbs now, and not those God-awful CFL things that ran hot, only lasted six months, cost too much, and made tons of hash/noise on the radio bands!

Nanny state indeed. Thank God we own our house outright (except for property tax). We had some work done recently, and I had our contractor add a soffit vent outside our back door. We didn't need the vent, but the hole for the grate gave us access to run wire and mount an outdoor two bulb flood light. LED, 200 watt equivalent aimed left, 150 watt aimed right. Lights up the whole yard.

Prongs? Well that about sums it up. I hate those low bathrooms, messes with the leg.

Low tech solutions for the toilet, put a five gallon bucket in your tub and fill it with water and use THAT to dump after you, well, dump.

I have a seat that goes on top of the toilet that I used after the knee surgeries. Wasn't very expensive, can be found at Goodwill.

I'm sure you already knew both of those things.

The low flow shower thing just pisses me off. When we take our annual vacation to the coast we stay in a timeshare owned by my parents. And every year we threaten to bring our own damn shower head.

I think this will be the year that actually happens.

Meanwhile, the army of do-gooding shitbugs out to save our planet will continue to fly hither and yon in their private jets so they can tell the rest of us about it.

Messes with the old body bit time. Glad the grab rails are there.

I use the wastebasket but need to carry it to the kitchen sink. Oh well, the main trash container is in the kitchen.

Well you do live in a progressive state; what did you expect? I agree with the shower head. I love a hard, hot shower.

Yep, those damn low toilets SUCK! And Marriott seems to have gone to them as a money saving 'feature'... And they don't flush worth a damn. Never seen those types of bulbs in the US either. And yes, change the shower head!!! We're too old for Navy showers.

Spreading nationwide.

Imagine being on the room cleaning crew at Marriott. Shower head is on priority. Cheap that I am I'm still hitting the thrift store and Habitat for Humanity. Sister now tells me she needs on replaced in her basement bathroom.

The shower head may have a flow reducing washer. My new bathroom faucet had one. Had.

Thanks! I'll check before I buy a new shower head.
