Chasing The Money

Once again WSF goes adrift on a political rant without being able to prove his points. Has that ever stopped him? You have been warned.

How many (P)regressives are now perusing the 2020 Democrat Presidential nomination? Maybe easier to list those who aren’t. The Centennial State alone has two, former Governor Wishywashy and senior Senator Mumbles.

What is the attraction? WSF says it is the money. There is so much dark money floating around from deliberately obscure PACs one can become rich just by being a candidate.

Begs the question. Do you trust a billionaire who becomes a politician, or a politician who becomes a multi-millionaire? (not original by me)

Saw a suggestion on Facebook regarding the open borders question. The author first listed the estimated annual earnings of human traffickers and drug cartels. Billions of bucks. Then he suggested Pelosi and Chucky, et al, are being bribed to keep the borders open.

Heresy! To suggest the cartels have both the wherewithal and the expertise to hide bribes to those who will benefit without exposing the bribe takers to risk is just silly, don’t you agree?

Consider the angst of the dark money purveyors. Who do you put your money on? Doubt even Las Vegas bookies have much stomach for those bets.

Brings to mind the line by Roy L. Fuchs (Jack Warden) in Used Cars, the movie. “I remember a time in this country when if you bought a politician, he stayed bought”.

So, WSF, you think these clowns see increasing their personal fortunes by being a candidate is a good play? Bet your ass I do.

Build The Wall Already

Thinking about our immigration ”system” or lack thereof and President Trump’s fight to secure the border, the following story in our local rag brought home the issue in local terms.

To me the key point is at the end of the article

Both men will be deported to Mexico upon their release, according to the district attorney's office.

The mayhem these illegals inflict on our country has been pointed out over and over.  Few are here to pick lettuce and apples. If you are so contemptuous of our laws regarding how you get here, are we surprised you are contemptuous of our other laws? Rape, forced prostitution, theft, murder, DUI, no auto insurance, and on and on is no problem for them. They hold us in contempt.

Not all, of course. There are decent human beings just trying to survive. There are also huge sums of money flowing out of the USA to other countries being sent to help family members and/or paying debts to human traffickers. Those are moneys that should stay here, bolstering the economy that generated them.

So the local story is a tiny blip, but one repeated thousands of times over. President Trump is the only one, in a position of power, that seems determined to put an end to it. More power to him. YMMV

Oh, WSF, you have no compassion for those less fortunate. True. Stand up and fight the oppressors in your home country. Freedom isn’t free, and what we have in the USA is possible because enough people fought to make it so. You must be willing to die for it. IMO

Tax Season

This is a happy time in the car biz as people get their refunds and have money for a down payment. Sad, the number of people whose only savings account is overpaying their taxes.

This year I’m getting back a few shekels from Uncle Sam and a bit more from the Centennial State. Pisses me off. I try hard to game the system so every year I owe. Let them use my money for free? Hell no! Then file on 4/12 and request an extension to pay. Some years I’ve strung them out till July.

When I was in my 30’s went five years without filing a return. Working straight commission you can avoid having anything withheld (at least at that time). Nothing happened. Filed my return and waited for the SHTF. Nada.

Being of Celtic heritage, I hold grudges forever. Any chance I get to stiff Colorado Revenue pleases me. I am still pissed they taxed my service pay when I didn’t spend even a full day in Colorado as a serviceman. We were sworn in, walked to the train station, and shipped out in a matter of two hours.

Going Green

New neighbor has a Nissan Leaf "Zero Emissions".
We have had some cold weather. -8° to 14° warming to the upper teens. Yesterday she was a passenger in my 1986 Mitsubishi Might Max going to Safeway. Seems the Leaf won't move when it is this cold.

It is possible it is operator error. She didn't impress me as to her automobile knowledge and I'm not interested in looking into her vehicle problems.

Crazy Like A Fox?

Once again WSF goes down the rabbit hole with political speculation. You have been warned.

Why are the Democrats going ape shit? Makes no sense on the surface.

When President Trump was running, he dominated the news, for free, with Twitter. (Full disclosure. I don’t have a Twitter account, wouldn’t know how to use it, don’t want one, and only know what those who have accounts share). He kept the Main Stream Maggots in an uproar and his name was constantly in front of the public. Still uses it. Are others trying to copy, with a twist?

The (P)regressives are past masters at deflection, distortion, showing confusion, discord, smearing and outright lying. Until President Trump came along it was all going their way. They still haven’t recovered. Worse, from their point of view, the mid-terms brought in a whole crop of new people that, “Don’t have no proper fetchings”.

Pelosi, Schumer, their staffs and allies are damn smart and cunning. What to do? Use the nutjob New York bartender and the banko failed Georgia governor candidate, et al, to be their “Trump Twitter”. Let them dominate the news keeping the great unwashed distracted while they conduct business as usual.

These new comers are getting some “plum” committee assignments. Pelosi is betting they have no staying power and a year from now will find they have all the influence of a middle school student council on the running of the school.

Meanwhile, we of a rule of law bent need to ignore the monkeys and the circus. Instead, we need to keep our focus on the ringmasters, IMO.

A New Blogger on My Reading List

My grand niece has started blogging and I’m proud to list her.
This young lady (third from left – back row) is making her way toward a university degree playing soccer. Division III to be sure but she won’t graduate with a six figure student load debt.

Two years ago she and two classmates made it to my sister’s home for Thanksgiving dinner. Bright well mannered women, as we talked I realized we had nearly zero in common. My history was an unknown world to them as was theirs to me.

When it came time to scatter my mother’s cremains, she came with her mother and mother’s significant other. During that time we “connected” so to speak and I was even more impressed.

Her mother, my niece, is a Progressive. She is also that gutsy person in Public Health going out at night on the mean streets of Reno working to eradicate sexually transmitted diseases. Anyone who has that kind of grit can have any political view they want, IMO.

If you care to see into the world of an articulate millennium, go read LESSONSFROMMYEXES.blogspot.com. Let us hope she continues her blog.

Maybe leave a comment. We old people are allowed to do so.
