Well, Shucky Darn II

Our neighborhood was hit by a microburst last night around 2130. It sounded like a bomb. All of the furniture on the decks was blown about.

Directly by the entrance a building under construction was damaged. The port-a-potty ended up on a neighbor’s lawn.

This type of construction is new to me.

The first level had been filled with concrete and didn’t get damaged.

Our building maintenance manager had this observation.

“I saw the contractor pull up, walk around for a few minutes, then drive away to the liquor store”.

Those look like the "styrofoam" forms our in-laws use. He's got the foundation for his new shop poured, and those forms look like what he's going to use to "frame" the walls with, and then pour more concrete.

At least it can't burn down like his last one that fell to the High Park Fire the year before we moved here.

The system makes sense. Seal the interior and sheath the exterior with something fire resistant.

The run to the local liquor mart makes sense too. Who really wants to inspect the damage while sober? Mind you I don't drink because it's not good for me. But if I was in construction, I think that I'd have one of Mike_C's water bottles filled to the brim with Stoli with me in the truck.

If it takes one to know one, our maintenance manager is an expert on drinking. This contractor has built five duplexes along the street, all conventional and with crews. This last lot is too small for a duplex. At the start he was using a crew up to the first level. Since then he has been working solo on the second level. One can only speculate as to his reason.

I should add our guy does a good job with our building. He also gives Banner the best petting of anyone in the building.

We can assume it is a huge blow to his finances.
