Well, Shucky Darn IV

Twenty six yards of concrete went into the walls this morning. That should hold them!

The contractor told our maintenance man the next step is using a crane to get the roof trusses on. There is a problem. The crane companies are having difficulty hiring competent operators.

No problem. Have a temp help agency send out four strong bodies and lift them up with muscle power. Will it work? In my youth I’ve done it.

Will the contractor get them up, secured, and sheathed before the next big wind storm? Time will tell.

Will this be a new WSF abode?

No. It is next to my apartment building and I find it interesting. If my abode changes, most likely it will be a COLOEXIT.

Now THAT's entertainment!

Didn't last long with those professionals. Maybe 45 minutes.

Yep, it's enjoyable to watch true professionals at work.

Yeah, I've done stuff like lifting trusses and towers and all manner of stuff with strongback power and davits with winch trucks and what-not, to avoid the expense of crane time.

One of the problems is, strongback doods are getting hard to find, too. I work with a bunch of millwrights and every single one of them has problems finding GOOD help. Actually, they're having problems finding any kind of help at all! It's a mess.

The place where my son works has the same problem. They burn through people all the time and can't get decent, responsible people who want to work.

My big heart sister rents her basement to some temp workers and a manager of the temp agency. These folks have stumbled in their lives and are rebuilding. Hard workers, they get very angry with those who won't work.

You do what needs to be done. 1980's I was a manager at a UBC Modular Home company in Seattle. An Oregon Coast customer brought up a load of old school (i.e damn heavy) split cedar shingles for their house we were building. Late on a Saturday. Guess who unloaded them?
