President Trump Is A Democrat

During the Reagan years I was a Democrat Precinct Committeeman in the Seattle area. One time in a friendly debate with the GOP Precinct Committeeman, he challenged me as to the differences between a Republican and a Democrat.

“We have this pie. The Republicans are all about how the pie is distributed, who gets what. The Democrats are all about making sure there is a pie”.

Fast forward to the present where the Democrat Party has been hijacked by the (P)regressives. I would change definitions.

“The Republicans haven’t changed. The (P)regressives say it is our pie, and we will decided who gets what. Your input, your desires, aren’t welcome. You just keep making the pie”.

Why do I say President Trump is a Democrat? What other politician is making sure there is pie?

Do you think the Jeb! Elephants voted for Trump?

Do you think conservative Democrats voted for Shillary?

Trump got voted in by Democrats and the policies he is pushing are traditional Democrat policies, IMO. YMMV

You do raise an interesting point... :-)

Nah, Fool. You were wrong back in your salad days as a Democrat in Seattle, and you're wrong now.

Back in the Reagan administration, the Republicans are the ones who wanted to insure that there was a pie in the first place, and they let market forces and the never ending good will and charity of the American people to determine how the pie was divvied up, and their primary interests were insuring that the pie got as big as possible.

Democrats back then were only interested in getting more of the pie at the expense of the other guys; they assumed a finite pie size, and they didn't care what those who got less pie thought about the way they were divving things up.

I was raised in a Republican family. My father and one uncle were County Committeemen. I didn't make the move lightly.

The great thing about this country, until recently, is disagreeing without being disagreeable.

Fool: no shame to lean towards the Dems in the Great Northwest: there's something in the water out there, something that seemingly rots people's brains.

I was raised in Bellingham, WA and when I was 10, my dad moved to Eugene, OR: the place was lousy with liberals, although my dad was a transplant from conservative northeast Montana. I, too, was raised by Republicans, while everybody around me was a Eugene McCarthy lover. Or later Jerry Brown. I only liked to think that Jerry had a chance to win the presidency because I thought that Linda Ronstadt would have made a great First Lady.

But that was just me. Back when she dumped the Stone Poneys and went solo.

The GOPers had meetings at the Holiday Inn and ate lukewarm Chicken ala King. The Dims had meetings on Harbor Island in a longshoreman bar. Way better odds for a newly divorced man to get laid.

Got it.

We need to get back to those days: Pat Nixon wearing her Republican cloth coat, while Jackie Kennedy was sporting exotic furs. Republicans eating warm chicken ala king, Dems scarfing down huge lobster claws dipped in drawn butter, while making sure their constituents had a few crumbs off of their melba toast.

Damn! Missed the lobster claws.

There was never decency in politics.

Republicans preached smaller government and then practiced larger government. They betrayed the cause. President Trump saw all of this and didn't like what he saw. Draining the swamp, building the wall, imprisoning the crone, bargaining for better trade deals, etc. Don't play to the institutional Republican vs Democrat dance. But the public didn't see it the way that the Republicans did and they elected a populist who hijacked the elephant.

Precisely.
