Walden, CO Museum
A small museum honoring the early residents of the North Park region (Jackson County) Colorado. These donated firearms were used to put food on the table and shoot varmints. Probably have little monetary value, being well used, but I appreciated them for being well used tools.
My maternal grandmother was a Latham, one of the early settlers. Many relatives are buried in the Southeast corner of the Walden Cemetery.
Nearly every small city has a museum. If you have the time, you can see real tools used by real people.
A few pictures from the far South end of the park.

That's what built the country. Many elements don't see it as the backbone that it is.
I have been to the museum when I was on the motor home road to trip to Washington state for a reunion. Del Francis used to live there and still owns property in Walden. We had lunch there, did a little bank work and went through the museum. Everyone should be proud of their cities and towns. There is a lot of history in the town, too.
Glad you got to see it. The town struggles to stay alive. Outside trophy ranch owners are displacing the ranch families and the logging is being chocked to death with regulations.
Exactly.
Our Great grandparents pictures hang just above the entrance door & our Great grandfather brought the 1st steam driven wheat thresher into North Park. He later converted it to a sawmill and years later was still in place back in the timber. Sisty
All true. I was trying to make a point (badly I know) about firearms being useful tools and necessary.
Just adding some more history to your musings.
Sisty
And you do it very well.
That's very cool. I love those small town museums. I usually stop at one when I get the chance. Also very good for history lessons.
They can be amazing. The one in Burlington, CO comes to mind. Just off I-70 and well worth two hours time.
Those are fantastic, and you find stories there that aren't anywhere else!!!
Yes, the real deal.
