Between my years in the car biz and my present work, I’ve spent a lot of time and driven a lot of miles in the plains.
The people are a hardy lot; they need to be. Many are of German, Mexican, Germans from Russia, and Slovak descent. They are Trump supporters and the (P)regressive and trust fund snots try to ignore them.

Guardian dogs
My knowledge of livestock dogs ends with border collies.
They have preserved their ranch against the trust fund snots invasion but are surrounded by recreationists of all stripes, hence their efforts to possibly educate people.

It was Jeff Cooper, COL, USMCR, Ret., R.I.P, who said there ain't many things that a man can't fix, with seven hundred dollars and a 30-06. I guess he didn't think he needed to mention shovels.
Of course, that was a long time ago, and because of inflation, seven hundred dollars doesn't go as far anymore. But with modern bullets, the ballistics of the 30-06 have improved somewhat, so we do have that going for us.
I wonder how many of the trust fund snots ARE trying to cause trouble with the dogs so they can 'claim' they were attacked...

South of my friends ranch South is Emerald Mountain which has been carved up into mountain bike trails. The cow elk used to shelter their young in scrub oak there but have moved to other areas. Tourists are now the protected species.

I'm sure it happens. The few times I've been around guardian dogs they first place themselves between you and their flock or herd. They bark loudly. I've never pushed into their territory so don't know what might provoke an attack. Self entitled snots are known for taking selfies with bison and bears so who knows how ignorant they can be.
