Western Nebraskans

Business today took me to Scottsbluff among other places. Heading back South on Highway 71 I paused at the old Stage Hill Road parking area to clean the windshield, check automotive fluids and eliminate personal fluids. With both my hood and trunk open, within ten minutes had two vehicles stop and ask me if I needed help.

On the Colorado side of Highway 71, about ten mile North of Highway 14, is this limestone formation. There is nothing else like it for miles in any direction. I’ve always want to explore it but it is on posted private property.

Banner does well on car rides but he loves visiting my sister where he is spoiled rotten. Today I left him with her as my trip was over ten hours.

He makes himself at home.

That's a bit like the "Natural Fort" on I-25 going North of here.

I see a lot of things from the highway that look like they'd be interesting to go see. I still want to go see the Ames Monument. I could have gone to see it on my way back from Tie Siding, but was overwhelmed by being so close to 4014 for so long that I completely forgot it wasn't that far away. If I would have gone West on I-80 instead of East back to I-25, I probably could have been there in 20~30 minutes.

Maybe next time.....

I've explored the "Natural Fort" on the East side of I-25. Interesting so long as you ignore the trash and graffiti.

From Ames Brothers Monument you are not far from the Vedauwoo area. Continue on RD 234 until you cross I-80. The rock formations in the area are strange. The Curt Gowdy State Park is in the area. Makes for a nice day trip.

Graffiti-
Bill Whittle commented on how the black-light murals at the Miami Planetarium, which had been on display for decades, were suddenly painted over by new "artistry", and had to be removed.
Self centered.
Selfish.
And destructive.

Watching rail cars roll past shows graffiti is out of control.

That is an interesting formation... And yes, Banner is spoiled twice over... Just sayin! :-)

Slow day for Banner. Fewer than 10 people besides me petted him and only one gave him a treat.

Banner is NOT spoiled at my house. He is well cared for. He knows the rules and follows them. He enjoys the freedom of the back yard and the comfort of the couch. We don't give treats out willy nilly and he probably enjoys being at my house as a break from WSF.

Ah, a Sisty smack down.
