Haven’t
put up a political rant for awhile. If you are easily offended, just move on.
Here
we go again, getting involved in the internal affairs of another country, Venezuela.
This
isn’t a defense of the wretched despotic socialists currently ruining the lives
of their citizens.
It
is for the citizens of Venezuela, or Iran, or China, or any other country whose
values we don’t share to make changes. How many lives of our military do we continue to spend
in stupid interventions? How much treasure do we give to the military
industrial racketeers? Do we ever learn?
The
cost of the Vietnam debacle was such we could have given every Vietnamese
$1,000,000 some folks estimate. What cost was the 50,000+ American citizens who
died?
I
know many of the arguments about keeping shit away from our borders by
influencing (read, active intervention) the affairs of those who may, or may
not, be our enemies. We have every right to defend our borders. As a nation, we’ve
let the racketeers make intervention the norm. Not just acceptable, but
praiseworthy. Fuck that! We need to mind our own business. Can’t solve our own
problems? Whee, create a crisis, or some noble endeavor, to keep the deplorables
distracted.
YMMV

I don't think that shit hole country is worth our effort. And I don't have a problem sending troops into areas that could be of danger to CONUS. My problem is with Washington. Our military can go into a country and clean it would with minimal ROE's. Let them do their job cleanly and/or dirty. But let them do it.
Hear, hear!
This one's going to get ugly... Hopefully, we ARE NOT involved.
Feel for the people of the country but they need to sort it out.
I couldn't agree more: they voted in those POS politicians like Hugo Chavez, who wrecked their country. It is now up to them to fix it themselves. Additionally, this dalliance with socialism by Venezuela can be useful as a deterrent to other foolish populations who think socialism will solve all of their society's problems: it most certainly will not.
Yes, it will likely take a lot of Venezulan blood to right the ship. Better their blood, not ours. They broke it, they own it.
Spot on!
Well said...couldn’t agree more.
Agree completely. In the last 40 plus years US intervention in other countries has just made things worse.
And don’t get me going on The. war on Terror!
See where Trump is using sanctions on their oil revenues. Good move.
