Came back from the road trip to find the
apartment complex was hit by high winds. A tree and the gas bbq were
casualties.
Perhaps someone who is a tree expert can
explain why the root ball is so small. The tree has been there 40+ years.
My guess is the species isn’t suited for
this climate.
The property manager told me the owners
plan to replace the gas bbq and add two charcoal ones. She is less than
thrilled.
The good news is no roofs were damaged
and the carports survived where my truck was parked.
My apologies for the bad pun post title.

Charcoal BBQ's mean a lot more mess for management to clean up.
I'm glad that your truck survived.
She was somewhat vocal about, "Dumb asses that can't read".
The pun wasn't *that* bad... now if you'd said, "Well that blows!" I may have had to roll my eyes...
Missed that, drat!
I'm betting they killed half the root ball with the sidewalk.
You may be correct. Tow sides of the tree had sidewalks. It was planted in a V between them.
