Please, Stop the Jokes

People having April Fools Day fun on koobecaF.

Today, more fun.

This needs to stop! Eco freaks will think it is a great idea, find some rich fool to fund a grant, and implement it for real.

It isn’t enough that we dodge giant jackrabbits and bambi. There is a reason the Aussies call them Roo Bars.

One koobecaF remark that caught my eye.

Gerry Flanagan Imagine the jackalope cross breed from Roos and Mule deer?

OK, WSF. You are a day late,  far short of original ideas, and taking up bandwidth.

 Bite me.

I have an ARB bumper - a roo-bar, on the front of my Toyota FJ because hitting a deer has a lot in common with hitting a roo. Hitting an elk is another problem completely. It's like hitting a horse or a bull and is more like hitting a brick wall in that the bumper won't be much help.

I think that scientists in a lab should be able to gene-splice a roo/caribou mix. Or a roo/moose mix. Think of a seven foot tall kangaroo with a moose rack on its head. That would be impressive. Release them in the wilds of Colorado...to bound across the highway.

You are a sick man, LL.

Local big rig operators have massive bars that will take an elk or cow hit without wrecking the tractor.

A cousin running hot shot freight with a one ton pickup and gooseneck trailer set up hit an elk on Hwy 13 between Craig and Baggs. Hood and fender damage but saved the steering, frame, radiator and radiator mount. He was able to finish his run. Much better outcome than being killed.

A roo on a wolf, I'll put my money on the roo. A roo on a pack, roo is dinner.

Agree.

I've seen people in passenger cars killed by both deer, horses and cows. In the case of the horse, it simply took everything off above the steering wheel.

Grim.

Which is why I have the ARB 'roo-bar' on the front of the FJ. I don't know what I am going to do with the Ford Raptor, but I will need to come up with something.

Many aftermarket manufacturers. One flaw I see in most is the animal can still come over the top and into your windshield. Perhaps some sort of lip? Something to deflect the animal downward?

A question I would ask is how does it compromise airbag deployment? Hitting another vehicle is probably more likely than an animal.

You'd have to read the claims of ARB. Yes there is a bar at the top to keep the kangaroo or deer as the case may be, from coming over the top. ARB claims something like 2000 kangaroo strikes without damaging the vehicle. I know people down under who agree that it works. I know people up here who have plowed into deer and it worked for them. The air bag still deploys with this bumper if it's hit hard enough.

LOL. The kangaroo thing going around Facebook was priceless. I'm pregnant with your baby. April Fool's or not. It's April 4.
