OccultBlackMetalZine

One of my son's blogs. Facebook is now blocking him promoting his blog on the basis the music, language, and lyrics he reviews are sometimes racist and/or offensive to snowflakes.

http://occultblackmetalzine.blogspot.com/2021/03/felledthe-intimate-earthtranscending.html

I am the first to admit I don't understand this music. He must be doing something that resonates with a lot of people as just this one blog is approaching 2,000,000 page views.

In the past, when I've watched him perform in clubs, I found the audience to be the politiest group I've ever encountered. This weird (in their world) old white dude was welcomed and was given great seating to view the shows.

I liken my son to a lone wolf. He simply wants to be left alone to do his "thing". Don't bother him and he  won't bother you. Mess with him, and you are dealing with a full blown Viking berserker.

I've raised my sons to be their own men. The downside to that, if there is one, they go their own ways with their beliefs from devout Christians to paganism. I comfort myself by seeing their work ethic, honesty, and treating their fellow citizens with kindness and respect.

As to Facebook, pffttttt!

What Must I Do?

I’m such a slacker, or of no consequence, that I can’t even get into Facebook jail. At best, I get “Fact Checked”. This was my submission today accompanied by a picture of the flag flying inverted.

 Stirring the pot.

The US capitol fenced off, I.D.'s required to enter portions of D.C. 20,000 armed troops with more scheduled, the military to be purged, elected representative, of certain political views sanctioned and executive orders taking the place of legislation are not the hallmarks of a legally, lawful, legitimately elected President.

Why am I on Facebook? Between 1st, 2nd, and perhaps 3rd cousins, I have close to eighty. Also friends, some high school friends and some car business friends that I liked to keep in contact with. Add sons, great aunts, sister, niece, grandchildren, daughter-in-law,  my late son’s in-laws, and others and Facebook keeps us in touch, or not, should they choose.

Last but not least, the sheer fun of pissing off (P)regressives.

Falsebook

Something I recently posted. Looking forward to the reactions.

Age Card

For those friends, relatives, and others who haven’t “deleted” me, allow me to play the “age card”, seeing how I’ve been on Earth 76 years and have always been interested and/or involved in my community and country.

I’ve seen the civil rights era, the Weatherman madness, the Reagan Presidency, and the Evangelical political ascendancy. I was in the Army when Kennedy was murdered. The singular lesson I’ve learned is, in the USA, when any portion of the population is being crushed by another portion of the population, those being crushed fight back. They do not go meekly to the slaughter and/or subjugation.

At this point the Trump hating (P)regressives are on a roll. You know in your hearts the election was rigged. You won, so you are fine with that. Not content, you are kicking those you despise who you perceive as down. Stop! We are all humans, not labels. You really won’t like the outcome if you back too many Deplorables into a corner.

Facebook is a convenient way to stay in contact with my extended family. At some point in time, I had over 50 first cousins. Many are still alive and have children and grandchildren.

We are fractious clans. Gather any three and you will get five points of view, vigorously defended and advocated.

Coal Heat

A Facebook post I put up has gathered more responses than anything I’ve ever put up, much to my amazement.

Memory lane.

Listening to the furnace starting frequently on the cold night, I am grateful I live in a well built building and can afford my heat bill. Many are not so fortunate. I can remember keeping the thermostat just high enough to keep the plumbing from freezing and the kids wearing sweaters, and even coats, in the house. Hard times.

With over fifty first cousins and many old friends I find Facebook, for all the negatives, a way to keep in touch so I remain.

The other part of the Facebook experience I enjoy is posting things I know will piss off (P)regressives, including my (P)regressive relatives, under the heading of, “Stirring the pot”. Many come from memes taken from your blogs.

The header picture is a Stokermatic. As a teenager, my parents heated our house with one and my chores included servicing it. Five buckets of coal per day on average. My Dad bought the coal directly from a mine ten miles away and I had to unload the truck, one shovelful at a time, into the coal shed.

Facebook Response

These pictures were recently posted on a site, Old, Abandoned and Interesting Places – Colorado, that I follow. In four days they generated nearly 500 responses. Amazes me.

This  is the kind of response that baffled me when I was spending $8,000 a month on advertising for our traveling car sales effort. You just never know what will resonate with the public, no matter how smart you think you are.

Please, Stop the Jokes

People having April Fools Day fun on koobecaF.

Today, more fun.

This needs to stop! Eco freaks will think it is a great idea, find some rich fool to fund a grant, and implement it for real.

It isn’t enough that we dodge giant jackrabbits and bambi. There is a reason the Aussies call them Roo Bars.

One koobecaF remark that caught my eye.

Gerry Flanagan Imagine the jackalope cross breed from Roos and Mule deer?

OK, WSF. You are a day late,  far short of original ideas, and taking up bandwidth.

 Bite me.

Ignoramus Talking Points

Several high school classmates are “friends” on Facebook. A couple are Koolaide soaked (p)regressives. They are intelligent women with Master Degrees, who have, and still do, put their asses on the line for what they believe in.  We respectfully agree to disagree.

What bothers me is they accept what they read on Daily Kos, Huffington Post, and other left-wing outlets uncritically. When I comment on some of their more inane Facebook postings, my comments usually include a link to the information I use to refute them. The comment section soon fills with shrill left-wing rants, as in, how dare you question this?

Being retired gives me free time, and the Internet gives me access, to vast amounts of knowledge and opinions. Since the President I most admire is Theodore Roosevelt, most of my reading is of the conservative, libertarian, and populist nature. If you look at the blogs I follow,  you won’t find any that a (p)regressive will read.

Something that pops out is the same dogmatic, shrill, “I’m, right, you are wrong”, mindset in a lot of stuff from the “Right”. Not as much as the “Left”, but it is there.

My approach is to research, to verify,  what I read before I accept it blindly. Life has taught me there is always more than one side to an issue, that I seldom have all the facts, and the best I can hope for is a somewhat intelligent and informed opinion.

What I believe, and have said in past blogs, is that you can’t spend all your time with people who believe as you do, if you want to change anything. Of course, there are those times when I just don’t give a shit. YMMV
