Weld County, Wyoming

A splendid alternative to COLOEXIT.   Move Weld County, CO to Wyoming. There is a Facebook group promoting the idea of putting the idea on the 2021 ballot.

Far fetched?

Would Wyoming want Weld County? Consider that the Watennburg field, the majority of which is in Weld County, is the 4th largest in the country. In 2015 the county produced 4 out of 5 barrels of crude in the state. The county is even bigger in natural gas production. The county infrastructure is mature and in decent condition.

Weld County has a population of over 300,000. Since Wyoming is the least populated state (540,000) and has only one Congressional representative, Wyoming would pick up another seat.

This is something I can get involved. Will it work? Probably not, but it will discomfort the (P)regressive assholes that now dominate state politics.

I'd like to form my own country. :-D
Most of my family lives in Eastern Oregon. There's always a 'let's secede from the state' movement going on. Petitions, advertising, tons of people on board with the idea. Of course it never will happen, it's too sensible.

I saw that the other day and was intrigued by it. If it's well-funded it could probably keep quite a few (P)regressive lawyers tied up, and keep them from coming up with nefarious new ways to curtail our freedom and take our money.....

Will the 2A sanctuary portion of Virginia be able to move the boundary so that they're part of West Virginia? Will Northern California be able to form the State of Jefferson and separate itself from the crooks and shills in Sacramento? There's a lot of that sort of thing going on because normal people don't want to be part of the progressive elements of America.

This sentiment is the natural human condition: that's why the Puritans and Pilgrims left Old Blighty in search of a better place. And see how things turned out for them.

Now things have come full circle, and we have New Blighty forming wherever there is enough population to enable the scalawags and ne-er-do-wells in politics to hand out free cheese without having to do much travel, or put in too much effort.

It's a little early to tell, but we may have the State of Jefferson, and a gerrymandered Wyoming in our future, hard to say. Lots of 'dirt people' (bitter clingers, deplorables, Great Unwashed, whatever you like to call yourselves) stay away from those free cheese dispensaries and opt for the wide open spaces.

Just like the Pilgrims.

Eastern WA would join Eastern OR if they could.

I'm still on speaking terms with a few (P)regressives. The idea is beyond their grasp. "But, why?" they ask.

LL
Do you think VA has the potential to be a flashpoint that will spread nationwide?

Fredd
I'm from generations of "dirt" people.

What an interesting post. Looks like Weld needs to move to comparative freedom and it points to a larger thing, obvs.

Dem run sh*tholes may have poc voting leverage but that exists in a bubble of once important prosperous urban centers, cities. These are now decaying, corrupt slums with super wealthy enclaves and a here and there hipster adjunct. The bubble is prog commie, anarcho-marxist. That leaves the rest of the state, not least people who've fled the socialist utopia sh*tholes.

Does this mean we're looking at a radical reorganization? Or a disintegration?

Sorry to bang on.

We have various groups advocating splitting counties away to make another state. This seems to common to fly over states. The country's history has always been rural vs cities. That is why we have the Electoral College.

Wyoming has issues. Rich people in Jackson Hole NW Corner, LDS SW Corner to the North, farmers in the SE East corner and sheep and cattle ranches across the state. Mix in various mining operations and petroleum and it isn't monolithic.

It would be interesting if they could make it happen. But the powers that be will not let it come to pass. The Libs don't want the filthy fields til they realize that they are important. Or is it a case of they don't want it, til you do.
Just like N Calif is unwanted... til they realize that it has the water.

#20 in national rankings for petro makes for a sizable tax revenue. Maybe raise the taxes, say $1,000 a house, in the (P)egressive enclaves to make up the loss.
