Rocky Mountain Springtime

Why am I clearing snow off my truck? Took the studded snow tires off too soon. Tire chains are behind the seat where they stay all year.

One last shudder before summer rolls in... this year summer will be on Tuesday.

While driving your truck around, do you miss your work Prius?

No, the Prius id terrible in snow other than having front wheel drive. Newer models let you turn off traction control. The one I drive bogs down in slush.

50+ years of driving rear wheel drive helps. The Mighty Max does well with studded tires. Before I got the studded tires, it was ok. There is always the cable chains behind the seat.

I check the Fort Collins weather daily, and saw you guys were getting some snow.

Just something I'll have to get used to again....

The nice thing is it doesn't storm all the time. Most of the winter you are comfortable in a light jacket.

I've been watching the weather there for a couple of years now, and we've been there at Thanksgiving. My wife got quite a kick out of the snow, but didn't care for the -15* weather we had in Cheyenne for Thanksgiving dinner.

She looked at me and said she now understood why I still have an N3B "survival parka"!

I have two winter survival bags. One, a backpack, goes into whatever vehicle I'm driving. What you might call a 48 hour survive a blizzard bag. The other, a small duffel, is for back country and a SHTF situation. At my age and level of fitness I won't be traveling far on foot but can survive in place for a few days.

Gotta love those spring thunderstorms... Or not... :-)

Rare to have thunderstorms from these. Heard some thunder early pm yesterday.

Looks like the storm is kicking butt down your hometown way. Ugly line from Dalhart to Childers. Seems to be hitting Amarillo hard right now. 2040 MDT.

That's an excellent idea. We already carry an "Earthquake Box" in each car with some things in it, so we'll just add a some "extreme cold weather" items to it.

Yes, the snow we got yesterday (not near as much as you probably got) was unwelcome. I felt sorry for all my friends that already planted their gardens as the low was 28 last night...sorry Albuquerque friends, you're not gonna have peaches this year.
Last weekend, Romeo (my honey bunny) shut down the furnace. I recall him asking me, did I think it would be OK, and I said yes. So we were a bit chilly at home yesterday.
Today's high is supposed to be 65. Gotta love spring weather.

This morning woke to clear skies and a strong cold wind. Fresh snow capping the Rockies and 100+ mile visibility.

https://www.yaktrax.com/, space blankets, thick gloves with glove liners, and windproof pants are good additions. I would add balaclavas.

hahah. It is hot and humid and flooding here. Take yer pick. Love the bird. I resemble that.

Hate hot and humid. Can always put on more clothing. Nobody wants to see me with less clothing.
