Hypocrites To The Right, Hypocrites To The Left, Tongues Waging

With apologizes to Alfred, Lord Tennyson, once again off on a rant.

Breathless article in the (P)regressive propaganda rag, aka Denver Post, declaring Shannon Watts, “Moms Demand Action” the NRA’s worst nightmare.

 Bullshit.

If she and her group didn’t exist the NRA would invent her, or something like her, to fuel their never ending quest to raise money to 'fight' for the 2nd Amendment and, at the upper levels, live high on the hog.

Likewise, without Bloomberg’s money, Shannon Watts would be just another mother of five with an expanding ass. From her pictures, she seems to have acquired some high priced fashion and makeup talent.

I know most of the ten readers of this blog are NRA members and I recognize the good the NRA does in terms of firearm safety, training range officers, etc. If I could support that, and nothing else, I would renew my membership.

When President Trump, a friend of firearm owners, took office, the GOP controlled both the House and Senate. Yet, the National Reciprocity Act the NRA supposedly advocated (and raised money off the issue) didn’t get it done. Why? My opinion, they didn’t want to lose a lucrative fund raising issue.

I was briefly swayed after the Parkland debacle and still get the inflammatory emails and offers to enter contests for poor quality merchandise (which they will happily sell me) with their logo stamped all over it.

Sorry, I don’t care to have people know if I’ve replaced any firearms after my tragic boating accident or that my untended parked vehicle(s) might be worth breaking into. YMMV

So Ms. Watts has written a book and was signing copies at Denver’s Tattered Cover Book store (a place I have dropped serious money in the past) and her hypocrisy was on full display. Armed guards were everywhere to ‘protect’ her precious hide with a secondary mission of keeping the Deplorables at bay. Great theater for the gullible and her fellow travelers. I doubt any firearm owner would bother to waste ammo on her.

(P)regressives want firearms gone, period. Not that they care a rat’s ass about gang bangers offing each other, no, they don’t want the Deplorables able to shoot their power seeking asses. Dominion over the masses without a risk to their privileged asses is the goal.

They bleat about 100 people a day dying from ‘gun violence’ (in a country whose population is more than 316,000,000).  How many people in the USA die every day from malnutrition? Not as glamorous a problem, but one with solutions. If they care so much about lives, why aren’t they working on this problem?

Well Shucky Darn

After the Parkland shooting, I renewed my lapsed memberships in the NRA and GOA. I have “issues” with both organizations but felt, “All hands on deck to repel boarders”. Not a time to quibble.

Now the NRA elects this dude president.

All I will say is, not my president.

YMMV, and you are most certainly entitled to your opinion, as am I.

Speaking Out

Posting an email I sent Enterprise Car Rental and their response.

Enterprise's recent smearing the NRA angers me. Last week I rented from you. Living in a small city, my choices are limited to you and Hertz. Be assured when other options are available I may make a different choice. This saddens me as the Enterprise staff in Greeley has always given me outstanding customer service. In the future I suggest you concentrate on serving the public and stay out of politics. Or, should I conclude, you find my membership in the NRA makes me a public menace? Perhaps you don't want my patronage.

Response: Ronald - 04/07/2018 12:29 PM
Dear Mr. White,

Although the Enterprise Holdings statement may not reflect my personal alignment, we apologize for any discomfort this may have caused.

Whenever a corporation gets political these days, it risks alienating half of its customers.

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Kind regards,
Ron
Enterprise Rent-A-Car E-mail Customer Service Representative

Notice the reference to “Enterprise Holdings”? Oh yeah, the big dogs get to feel righteous and praised at cocktail parties while the bulk of the employees get shit on.

What I hope is my email is one of thousands, and that the shit gets pumped upward to those who made the decision. Faint hope, I know.

What I can do is speak out and vote with my wallet. Damned if I will shut up. In the car biz, we were told a satisfied customer will tell around four people about their experience. An unhappy customer will tell up to twenty. How many will this blog reach? Stats show about 1,000 a month. Quit laughing! Some of you get 1,000 a day.

Thank You NRA, But NoThanks

The big brown Happy Truck dropped this off, a thank you for renewing your membership gift. Seems well made, lots of pockets and zippers, and probably a good range bag.

Gave it to my sister's boyfriend. He plans to use it for some of his electrical tools.

Those three big gold letters are the problem. To a thief, "Oh lookie, lookie what we have here". To a LEO, "Mind if I have a look inside your bag"?

My "stuff" gets wrapped in an old sweatshirt and stuffed into a faded green cotton bag with a stout rope drawstring. Goes next to a cheap sleeping bag and an oblong black bag with an "Isuzu" logo that is my BOB. None of it looks good enough to donate to a thrift store. Doubt any of it would appeal to even the most down and out meth head.

What I want the world to see if an old, fat grandfather with no money driving an old P.O.S. Nothing of interest here folks, just move on.

So thank you, NRA. I don't mind supporting your mission, but I am not advertising my firearms. Faded NRA sticker on the rear window? Sure, along with a faded "My son is in the Army" and a "Freedom Isn't Free" stickers. Goes will with the rest of the image.

One last point. I don't own a single damn thing with the word "Tactical" on it.

Reactionary

Given what this day is and my blog title are you surprised?
Reactionary is a word I didn't believe would ever describe me. Last week I rejoined both the American Legion and the NRA after a 30 year lapse in reaction to the Obama administrations actions. First, the idea of veterans forced to use private insurance for service connected disabilities. How pissed am I at these arrogant assholes who have never once put their personal ass on the line for anything? Enough to start writing checks. Second, "common sense" gun laws. I don't see the words "common sense" in the constitution. And who's "common sense"? Sarah Brady? What I can do is support those fighting for things I believe in.
This last election I didn't give dime one to the Democrat Party for the first time in years. I did contribute to the campains of candidates I felt shared many of my values. I voted for a Republican for President for the first time since Gerald Ford.
My youngest is going on active duty this month. I've always supported the troops and now have a selfish interest in doing so. I'm very proud of him and damned scared at the same time.
This posting is more of a rant than anything else but, hey, it is my blog!
