 Bureau of Land Management Plans

A prior post was about the BLM’s plans in Wyoming seemed to spark some interest among readers. This is a follow up. Key.

“That’s because it represents an attempt by the Biden administration to exercise authority over public land that only Congress has,” he said. “Congress declares how this (BLM) land is to be used. And it’s for multiple use, not preservation.”

This is clearly an educated person who writes a well crafted opinion.

What comes through, to me, is the clear liberal mindset that those who disagree with them are ignorant. She points this out in what, may seem to her, a kind way much like one speaks to a child. A faint tone of irritation seeps through. Why would anyone doubt her brilliant conclusions? Her other opinions posted on The Colorado Sun have the same “better than thou” tone.

The rag leans left but has enough content the America Media Maggots (h/t BZ) ignore, I find it  of some value. Whether I continue to pay to subscribe is under consideration.

A rebuttal. Colorado is more than the Front Range, Fort Collins to Pueblo. The state is 103,641 square miles. Much is sparsely settled. Much of the state isn’t favorable to electric vehicles. The state has extreme climate variations. I wonder what, if any, electric vehicles are suitable for a trip from Boulder to, say, Cortez in March?

I’ve personally driven 100,000 miles in a Prius. I was paid to drive one 420 miles a day, three days a week, from Northern Colorado to Wheatland, WY, then Scottsbluff, NE, and finally DIA. I have a very low opinion of the two the employer supplied. Real life, 42 MPG, dangerous on snow covered roads and no protection should you hit an animal.

For second year in a row, domestic violence deaths in Colorado reach all-time high in 2022

Devil in the details. In 2022, 94 deaths. In 2021, 91 deaths. Clearly, a need for more robust Red Flag laws. Colorado 2021 population was 5,812,000 + or -.

For the record, I abhor domestic violence and have never struck a woman . Rarely raised my voice no matter how angry or provoked. Tried to set the right example with my three sons.

Why not just give the Union Pacific the money with the stipulation it is used to restart rail service? They are more likely to know how to run a railroad.

Northern Colorado to Wheatland to SCB to DIA and home. Bejabbers, that's a hike. You certainly weren't spending much time stopping for much of anything on that kind of treadmill. And, in a Prius no less.

How often was the boss driving that route/contraption pray tell? Not much, presumably.

A retired trucker was the other driver. Great guy. He always left the car full and clean. He loathed the cars. Not bragging, we were the only drivers trusted to run the route. Winter, if the roads were open, we went. I should add we were paid more than the other drivers running local routes.

From Scottsbluff we took Hwy 71 to Kimball then on to CO14, CO14 West 8 miles to CO 52, the CO 52 to Fort Morgan and I-76. Past Kimball there are zero services, all two lane with no shoulders, and beat to hell. Add truckers, oil field traffic, Air Force Humvees, wild animals, loose stock and the verdamit windmill parts being hauled up the road, the trip kept you awake.

Yep, games being played at multiple levels. And your stories of driving that route were 'interesting'!

I still do some jobs in the area. Not too many lately - some new managers. Also, I don't do them for cheap.

What an excellent unicorn chariot! And hey, it's all fun and games until a trillion in debt per year comes home to roost.

I know those roads pretty well, WSF. Did a construction project at a feed mill in Morrill in 1991 and after changing jobs did a lot of work in the sugar plant in Scottsbluff with a good bit of back and forth going to their HQ and their engineering consultant in Denco. At the same time, we were doing a lot of stuff with a major grain company with locations spread between Denco and western Kansas. Anything south of Kimball, not a fan.

Limon to Kit Carson, though, lots of antelope to be seen usually, big fan of looking for those.

There is a lot to see and experience in Western Nebraska. I enjoy poking around.

Sugar beets. During the many years I worked for Steve Lance, owner of Cowboy Corral Kia (nickname, Little Hitler) he fired me a few times and a few times I quit. During one of those times I drove a beet truck for something to do. Those plants need to stay running - must be a challenge.

Highway 285, Limon to Texas, I probably my least favorite drive. Hwy 160, Springfield to Trinidad is one of the bleakest roads in Colorado. It is bleak like Hwy 50 in Nevada.

The Black Mesa Plateau is to the South and is another area I enjoyed poking around in. The South side is Cimarron County, OK and interesting. The only county in the USA that borders on four states. Seems I'v drifted far from Nebraska. I've been in every state except Hawaii and D.C. at some point in my life. Mostly in the West.

As a teenager I had a boss that used to ask, "Can you get that in a little ball?"
For Illinois, this is another piece of paper that may be crushed into a "little ball"-

Maybe Illinois residents can start a movement to join another state like Oregon and Washington joining a Greater Idaho. Until then, cheers for the 99.00001% who haven't complied.

Of course, you most likely don't own any firearms.

Sadly, (like so many of us), mine were lost in that boating accident months ago.
And they're now SO HARD to replace because of the rush to gun stores. :)

You would think after reading about boating accidents, we would know better than taking our arsenal with us while fishing.

I've been all over the Oklahoma and Texas Panhandles and did not know that about Cimmaron County, nor was I familiar with the Black Mesa area, but now it's on the list. Thanks for the heads up!

The back roads going west from Boise City are the most interesting, IMO. Hwy 87 from Dalhart to Raton is mostly open prairie. Folsom, in the middle of nowhere is an abandoned town with squatters. Once did an "interesting" repo there. Man used his brother's drivers license, SSN, etc. to buy a car from us.

I read her intensely annoying article.

I hate, scorn, loathe and despise that condescending, holier than thou, I'm smart you're stupid, faked up, sanctimonious, ersatz progleft clever prose. Like no kidding, I really scorn it.

You see it everywhere, from the risible NYT, to the pathetic Atlantic to the Detroit Free Press and all else in between. I think the prose style's taught in "journalism degrees," whatever they are, in our so-called universities.

Awesome, get into debt to the tune of some six fig sum and write like a well polished buffoon.

Rant over.

Good train call.
