Not This Year
Three years ago at Walden, CO. Named for the nearby mountain
range, The Never Summer Rodeo.
The first time we came out here was 9 years ago this week. I was amazed there was still snow in the mountains, and out DIL told us that was The Never Summer Range.
DrJim They run North from Cameron Pass with a break before Laramie where they were WNW and become the Snowy Range ending at Elk Mountain. As a teen spent three days hiking the crest from Cameron Pass to Woods Landing. Rugged is too tame a word for them.
DrJim That is the one. It doesn't look as rugged on the side facing 287 - more of a gradual climb but in the end it is a 60° slope or steeper. One you get to Tie Siding you are past the Never Summers but to the NNW you see the Snowy Range. A great Sunday drive is Fort Collins - Laramie-Ryan Park-Encampment-Walden and Hwy 14 back to Fort Collins. Six hours and 300 miles.

It looks as if today will be a good day, but we're in the middle of monsoon and there have been hard mountain thunderstorms and hail.

91° on my third story deck at 0800. Officially 84° now with no rain forecast.
The residents have organized a potluck at 1600 I will probably attend.

So that's the range off to the West as you take 287 North, right? We drove that up to Virginia Dale, you and I went that way to Tie Siding, WY?
