Now starting year three without television in my home. Don't miss it, not at all. Since I still travel frequently for business, I watch television, briefly, in motels. Still dislike the number of commercials. Think it is because I resist anyone trying to manipulate me.
Family and friends tell me there are alternatives. TiVo? That would require, gasp, reading instructions.

I also bet your blood pressure is lower than ours... GOOD side benefit!
@ NFO. Yes, spared the MSM talking heads.
We have a ton of televisions. Well, okay, four or five. I watch movies on mine in the kitchen (dvd or vhs). The kids use theirs for video games although they both have cable hookups. The only person in the house who really watches is Eric, and when I told him last week how much we're paying for cable/internet/phone package, he decided he wants to get rid of TV. We'll see.
I don't like commercials, either. I don't like them on the radio, too. They suck.
I gave up drinking soda four or five years ago... that's like giving up TV, right?
@ Ami. If you consumed sodas at the rate my ex does, that is giving up TV twice.
I don't watch much TV but what I do watch is via the DVR. Mostly my motorhead shows and competitions. Most anything that runs on high octane, methanol, nitromethane, etc etc.
Skip through all the comercials. And, WSF, these devices are pretty simple to use nowadays. Certainly not like the old days of what one had to do with setting timers on VCR's.
My brother has TiVo....if he can work it, anybody can. He's very technologically challenged. He still doesn't know how to access voice mail on his cell phone and doesn't even know how to turn on a computer!
@ Scotty. Remarks about instructions made tongue in cheek. Mainly for the amusement of family members. I hate reading instructions. You should hear me cuss filling out driver log books.
I a HAM radio guy....it's in our charter. Reading instructions is done only in a last ditch effort to get something running!!
