Recently had a DNA analysis by
Ancestry.com. Virtual Mirage asked that I post it.
Interesting on several levels. My maternal grandfather
was adopted and knew nothing of his birth parents. There was speculation he was
French/Indian. Not so per these results.
Another surprise was the 5% Scandinavian.
Guess
there were some raping Vikings back there. We’ve always thought we were Celts
and the results support that.
There is more to study. The bloodline in
North America goes back to the 1700’s in New England. Supports another family
tale we were “Blue Belly Yankees”.
Will write more on the subject in the
future.

I did the one from 23&me, and the results were a bit different than I expected.

It's fun to delve into one's history through looking at ancestors. They all had their story (as do we) and without them being successful and living long enough to have children, we wouldn't be. The whole "pirate line" that I stumbled onto has me prepping for a trip to the North Carolina outer banks when the weather turns good.
There are family members who do this.
Sometimes you might find ignorance to be bliss.
Some of third and fourth generation ancestors activities in, broadly, the upper reaches of the Colorado River tributaries is more whispered than spoken aloud.
I did the same thing that proved I am from Irish/English heritage.
I hail from royal blood, directly descending from King Harald of Norway. No, I will not take a DNA test. If Elizabeth Warren doesn't have to, neither do I.

My ex is first generation Norsk. When our first son was born she got a letter from an uncle in Norway saying he was the 16th direct descendant of King Hakensen II.
