Death of a Pet

Banner

Some long term readers may be familiar with my dog, Banner, a Lab mix. He went over the Rainbow Bridge this afternoon, lying in a favorite place, and without pain.

He was about 14 and a semi-rescue. I had him for six+ years.

He collapsed early afternoon and was gone is less than three hours.

I will miss him. I’m grateful we didn’t need to put him down and that he died a peaceful painless death in a place he was loved.

When you adopt a senior dog, you know this day will come too soon. I have no regrets. He brought me joy and was a “good boy”.

So sorry to hear that, Banner was a good boy and he'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Wow.....I just don't know what to say. You have our deepest sympathy. Banner was a Good Boy, and was loved and well taken care of. God Bless you both.

Oh, brother, we had a couple like that, both Yorks. Treasure had doggie Alzheimer's and died of a stroke; bam! and it was over after 11 1/2 years. Sherlock, my little buddy and 3.5 pounds of raging canine fury (he took on a German Shepherd one time and sent it packing; he was, however, scared of the chipmunks), tucked himself into bed and laid his little doggie head on my pillow and died in his sleep.

It always hurts, but you're glad for the time you had with them.

Sorry for your loss - Have been there too many times myself - We know they had a good life and are in a better place but still it is painful for us

The highest compliment possible for a dog is "he was a good boy" and Banner surely was. Very sorry for your loss.

I follow your blog as much for your thoughts and insights as for Banner and his ways (doggy). I will miss him. Thank you Tank.

Banner brought so much joy to my heart & home over the years and especially the past few months that he lived with me. As WSF has said in the past, "he was The Ambassador of Smiles".

Thank all of you. This morning we took him on his last car ride to the Vet who will have him cremated. I will likely spread his ashes on the hill he loved to run around on.

My condolences to you, WSF. Losing such a loved dog is hard. As I do with those of mine that have crossed The Rainbow Bride, may you remember all of the good times he brought into your life.
