WW II Vets - We Need to Remember Them
Quiet couple. He served in combat. She served on the home front. After the war, quietly lived useful and productive lives.

My Dad was in the infantry in WWII. He also was awarded a purple heart for wounds he received when the US was staring to enter Germany.
He seldom spoke about it.

One uncle in both the Aleutian landings and Germany.
Uncle by marriage, Pearl Harbor + four Purple Hearts
Uncle by marriage, medic in Germany
Uncle by marriage, Navy Merchant ship gunner, Murmansk convoys.
Uncle, one good eye, Army stateside transporting and guarding POWs.
Uncle by marriage, gunner, 8th Air Force
They seldom talked about their experiences outside of family gatherings.
