Three Cheers for Boring

The things I hear from people I’m around continue to surprise me.

   Family members in jail/prison/probation.
   People with ignition interlocks (DUI).
Family members dead from drug overdoses.
Family members having babies with no wedded father.
Households with a mix of boyfriends, nieces, nephews, grandparents.
Children growing up with a revolving door of adults in their lives.
Children moving from household to household.

Damn, I lead a boring personal  life, and I am thankful I do.

I see a lot of kids with interesting home lives. All of my current crop are well cared for, though, despite the upheaval they have at home. They're loved and valued. But my GOD the drama of the parents! The stories I sometimes hear from kids and from their parents (evidently I'm the day care equivalent of a bartender, because people tell me everything) are amazing. I don't repeat what I've been told, so I guess their confidence is justified. But I second the whole 'yay for boring' thing. :)

Yes, indeed. If their lives are full of action, no thanks. LOL
